The 1st day of creation, on which G-d created existence, time, matter, darkness and light, was the 25th of Elul. Rosh Hashanah, on which we mark “the beginning of Your works”, is actually the 6th day of creation, on which the world attained the potential for the realization of its purpose, with the creation of the first man and woman, Adam and Eve. Rosh Hashanah is therefore the day from which the Jewish calendar begins to count the years of history; the 1st day of creation thus occurred on the 25th of Elul of what is termed -1 from creation.
On Rosh Hashanah, we call G‑d both king and father.
King, because He dictates what will be and what will not.
Father, because there is something of Him within each of us.
Indeed, as we choose, so He will dictate.

Historia Judía
El primer día de la creación, en el cual Di-s creó la existencia, el tiempo, la materia, las tinieblas y la luz, fue el 25 de Elul. Rosh HaShaná, en el cual señalamos “el comienzo de Tu obra”, es realmente el sexto día de la creación, en el cual el mundo logró el potencial para la realización de su propósito, con la creación del primer hombre y la primera mujer, Adán y Eva. Por lo tanto, Rosh HaShaná es el día en el que comienza el calendario judío a contar los años de la historia; el primer día de la creación ocurrió el 25 de Elul, por lo cual es denominado día 1 de la creación.

LOS SALMOS 90
Plegaria de Moisés (Moshe), varón De Dios. Señor, Tú has sido nuestra morada durante todas las generaciones.
(2) Antes de que las montañas fuesen levantadas, y aún antes de que Tú formarás la tierra y el mundo, y desde la eternidad y hasta la eternidad, Tú eres Dios.
(3) Tú vuelves la hombre en contrición, y dices: “Volveos, hijo de hombre”.
(4) Porque mil años, ante Tus ojos, son como ayer cuando han pasado, y como una vigilia d ela noche.
(5) Tú los llevas como una inundación. Son como un sueño. A la mañana son como hierba que crece.
(6) A la mañana florece y crece, y por la tarde es segada y se marchita.
(7) Por cuanto somos consumidos en Tu ira, y por Tu ira pasamos rapidamente.
(8) Tu colocas nuestras iniquidades ante Ti, nuestros pecados secretos a la luz de Tu rostro.
(9) Porque todos nuestros días pasan rápidamente ante Tu ira. Hacemos que nuestros años terminen como una historia que se cuenta.
(10) Los días de nuestros años son setenta años, o a lo sumo por vigor son ochenta años, pero todo su orgullo no es más que afán y vanidad, porque se van rápidamente, como volando.
(11) ¿Quién conoce el poder de Tu ira y de Tu indignación conforme al temor que se Te debe?
(12) Ensénaños pues a contar nuestros días, para que podamos lograr un corazón de sabiduría.
(13) ¡Vuelve, oh Eterno! ¿hasta cuándo(seguiremos esperando)? Conduélete de Tus siervos.
(14) Satisfacenos por la mañana con Tu piedad, para que nos regocijemos todos nuestros días.
(15) Alégremonos conforme a los días en que Tú nos has afligido, conforme a los años en los que hemos visto el mal.
(16) Muestra Tu obra a Tus siervos, y Tu gloria a sus hijos,
(17) y sea la gracia del Señor nuestro Dios sobre nosotros. Establece también sobre nosotros la obra de nuestras manos. Sí, aprueba la obra de nuestras manos.
