Melachim I – I Kings – Chapter 8

1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ (houses) of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem; to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion.		אאָ֣ז יַקְהֵ֣ל שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה אֶת־זִקְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֡ל אֶת־כָּל־רָאשֵׁ֣י הַמַּטּוֹת֩ נְשִׂיאֵ֨י הָאָב֜וֹת לִבְנֵ֧י יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶל־הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה יְרוּשָׁלָ֑םִ לְֽהַעֲל֞וֹת אֶת־אֲר֧וֹן בְּרִית־יְהֹוָ֛ה מֵעִ֥יר דָּוִ֖ד הִ֥יא צִיּֽוֹן:
2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which (is) the seventh month.		בוַיִּקָּ֨הֲל֜וּ אֶל־הַמֶּ֚לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹה֙ כָּל־אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּיֶ֥רַח הָאֵֽתָנִ֖ים בֶּחָ֑ג ה֖וּא הַחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִֽי:
3 And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.		גוַיָּבֹ֕אוּ כֹּ֖ל זִקְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִשְׂא֥וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים אֶת־הָאָרֽוֹן:
4 And they brought up the ark of the Lord, and the tabernacle of meeting, and all the holy vessels which (were) in the tabernacle, and the priests and the Levites did bring them up.		דוַֽיַּעֲל֞וּ אֶת־אֲר֚וֹן יְהֹוָה֙ וְאֶת־אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד וְאֶֽת־כָּל־כְּלֵ֥י הַקֹּ֖דֶשׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּאֹ֑הֶל וַיַּעֲל֣וּ אֹתָ֔ם הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים וְהַלְוִיִּֽם:
5 And King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, (were) with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.		הוְהַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה וְכָל־עֲדַ֚ת יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ הַנּוֹעָדִ֣ים עָלָ֔יו אִתּ֖וֹ לִפְנֵ֣י הָֽאָר֑וֹן מְזַבְּחִים֙ צֹ֣אן וּבָקָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹֽא־יִסָּפְר֛וּ וְלֹ֥א יִמָּנ֖וּ מֵרֹֽב:
6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, into the Sanctuary of the house, to the most holy (place), under the wings of the cherubim.		ווַיָּבִ֣אוּ הַ֠כֹּהֲנִים אֶת־אֲר֨וֹן בְּרִית־יְהֹוָ֧ה אֶל־מְקוֹמ֛וֹ אֶל־דְּבִ֥יר הַבַּ֖יִת אֶל־קֹ֣דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁ֑ים אֶל־תַּ֖חַת כַּנְפֵ֥י הַכְּרוּבִֽים:
7 For the cherubim spread forth (their) wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and the staves thereof above.		זכִּ֚י הַכְּרוּבִים֙ פֹּרְשִֹ֣ים כְּנָפַ֔יִם אֶל־מְק֖וֹם הָֽאָר֑וֹן וַיָּסֹ֧כּוּ הַכְּרֻבִ֛ים עַל־הָאָר֥וֹן וְעַל־בַּדָּ֖יו מִלְמָֽעְלָה:
8 And the staves were so long that the ends of the staves were seen from the holy (place) before the Sanctuary, and they were not seen without; and they are there unto this day.		חוַֽיַּאֲרִכוּ֘ הַבַּדִּים֒ וַיֵּרָאוּ֩ רָאשֵׁ֨י הַבַּדִּ֚ים מִן־הַקֹּ֙דֶשׁ֙ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י הַדְּבִ֔יר וְלֹ֥א יֵרָא֖וּ הַח֑וּצָה וַיִּ֣הְיוּ שָׁ֔ם עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה:
9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when the Lord made (a covenant) with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.		טאֵין בָּֽאָר֔וֹן רַ֗ק שְׁנֵי֙ לֻח֣וֹת הָאֲבָנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר הִנִּ֥חַ שָׁ֛ם משֶׁ֖ה בְּחֹרֵ֑ב אֲשֶׁ֨ר כָּרַ֚ת יְהֹוָה֙ עִם־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּצֵאתָ֖ם מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם:
10 And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy (place), and the cloud filled the house of the Lord.		יוַיְהִ֕י בְּצֵ֥את הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים מִן־הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ וְהֶעָנָ֥ן מָלֵ֖א אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָֽה:
11 And the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord.		יאוְלֹֽא־יָכְל֧וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֛ים לַעֲמֹ֥ד לְשָׁרֵ֖ת מִפְּנֵ֥י הֶֽעָנָ֑ן כִּי־מָלֵ֥א כְבוֹד־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָֽה:
12 Then Solomon said, “The Lord said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.		יבאָ֖ז אָמַ֣ר שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה יְהֹוָ֣ה אָמַ֔ר לִשְׁכֹּ֖ן בָּעֲרָפֶֽל:
13 I have surely built You a house to dwell in; a settled place for You to dwell in forever.”		יגבָּנֹ֥ה בָנִ֛יתִי בֵּ֥ית זְבֻ֖ל לָ֑ךְ מָכ֥וֹן לְשִׁבְתְּךָ֖ עוֹלָמִֽים:
14And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel, and all the congregation of Israel stood.		ידוַיַּסֵּ֚ב הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ אֶת־פָּנָ֔יו וַיְבָ֕רֶךְ אֵ֖ת כָּל־קְהַ֣ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְכָל־קְהַ֥ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עֹמֵֽד:
15 And he said, “Blessed (be) the Lord, the God of Israel Who spoke with His mouth unto David my father, and has fulfilled it with His hand, saying.		טווַיֹּ֗אמֶר בָּר֚וּךְ יְהֹוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר֙ דִּבֶּ֣ר בְּפִ֔יו אֵ֖ת דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑י וּבְיָד֥וֹ מִלֵּ֖א לֵאמֹֽר:
16 ‘Since the day that I brought forth My people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that My name might be therein; but I chose David to be over My people Israel.’		טזמִן־הַיּ֗וֹם אֲשֶׁ֨ר הוֹצֵ֜אתִי אֶת־עַמִּ֣י אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֘ מִמִּצְרַיִם֒ לֹֽא־בָחַ֣רְתִּי בְעִ֗יר מִכֹּל֙ שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לִבְנ֣וֹת בַּ֔יִת לִהְי֥וֹת שְׁמִ֖י שָׁ֑ם וָאֶבְחַ֣ר בְּדָוִ֔ד לִֽהְי֖וֹת עַל־עַמִּ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל:
17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.		יזוַיְהִ֕י עִם־לְבַ֖ב דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑י לִבְנ֣וֹת בַּ֔יִת לְשֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל:
18 And the Lord said to David my father, ‘Since it was in your heart to build a house unto My name, you did well that it was in your heart.		יחוַיֹּ֚אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֔י יַ֗עַן אֲשֶׁ֚ר הָיָה֙ עִם־לְבָ֣בְךָ֔ לִבְנ֥וֹת בַּ֖יִת לִשְׁמִ֑י הֱטִיבֹ֔תָ כִּ֥י הָיָ֖ה עִם־לְבָבֶֽךָ:
19 Nevertheless, you shall not build the house; but your son that shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house for My name.’		יטרַ֣ק אַתָּ֔ה לֹ֥א תִבְנֶ֖ה הַבָּ֑יִת כִּ֚י אִם־בִּנְךָ֙ הַיֹּצֵ֣א מֵחֲלָצֶ֔יךָ הֽוּא־יִבְנֶ֥ה הַבַּ֖יִת לִשְׁמִֽי:
20 And the Lord has established His word that He spoke, and I have risen up in the place of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord spoke, and have built a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.		כוַיָּ֣קֶם יְהֹוָ֔ה אֶת־דְּבָר֖וֹ אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֵּ֑ר וָאָקֻ֡ם תַּחַת֩ דָּוִ֨ד אָבִ֜י וָאֵשֵׁ֣ב עַל־כִּסֵּ֣א יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֙ דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהֹוָ֔ה וָאֶבְנֶ֣ה הַבַּ֔יִת לְשֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל:
21 And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein (is) the covenant of the Lord, which He made with our fathers, when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.”		כאוָאָשִֹ֨ם שָׁ֚ם מָקוֹם֙ לָֽאָר֔וֹן אֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֖ם בְּרִ֣ית יְהֹוָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֚ר כָּרַת֙ עִם־אֲבֹתֵ֔ינוּ בְּהוֹצִיא֥וֹ אֹתָ֖ם מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם:
22And Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands towards heaven.		כבוַיַּעֲמֹ֣ד שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה לִפְנֵי֙ מִזְבַּ֣ח יְהֹוָ֔ה נֶ֖גֶד כָּל־קְהַ֣ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיִּפְרֹ֥שׂ כַּפָּ֖יו הַשָּׁמָֽיִם:
23 And he said, “Lord God of Israel, (there is) no God like you, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, Who keeps covenant and mercy with Your servants that walk before You with all their heart.		כגוַיֹּאמַ֗ר יְהֹוָ֞ה אֱלֹהֵ֚י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֵין־כָּמ֣וֹךָ אֱלֹהִ֔ים בַּשָּׁמַ֣יִם מִמַּ֔עַל וְעַל־הָאָ֖רֶץ מִתָּ֑חַת שֹׁמֵ֚ר הַבְּרִית֙ וְֽהַחֶ֔סֶד לַעֲבָדֶ֕יךָ הַהֹלְכִ֥ים לְפָנֶ֖יךָ בְּכָל־לִבָּֽם:
24 Who has kept with Your servant David my father that which You spoke to him, and You spoke with Your mouth, and fulfilled it with Your hand, as (it is) this day.		כדאֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁמַ֗רְתָּ לְעַבְדְּךָ֙ דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֔י אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ ל֑וֹ וַתְּדַבֵּ֥ר בְּפִ֛יךָ וּבְיָדְךָ֥ מִלֵּ֖אתָ כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה:
25 And now, Lord, the God of Israel, keep with Your servant, David my father, that which You spoke to him, saying, ‘There shall not fail you a man before Me to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk before Me as you have walked before Me.’		כהוְעַתָּ֞ה יְהֹוָ֣ה | אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל שְׁ֠מֹר לְעַבְדְּךָ֙ דָוִ֚ד אָבִי֙ אֵת֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבַּ֚רְתָּ לּוֹ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹא־יִכָּרֵ֨ת לְךָ֥ אִישׁ֙ מִלְּפָנַ֔י ישֵׁ֖ב עַל־כִּסֵּ֣א יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל רַ֠ק אִם־יִשְׁמְר֨וּ בָנֶ֚יךָ אֶת־דַּרְכָּם֙ לָלֶ֣כֶת לְפָנַ֔י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלַ֖כְתָּ לְפָנָֽי:
26 And now, God of Israel, please let Your word come true, which You spoke to Your servant David, my father.		כווְעַתָּ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יֵאָ֚מֶן נָא֙ דְּבָ֣רְךָ֔ (כתיב דְּבָ֣רְיךָ֔) אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבַּ֔רְתָּ לְעַבְדְּךָ֖ דָּוִ֥ד אָבִֽי:
27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You; much less this temple that I have erected.		כזכִּי הַֽאֻמְנָ֔ם יֵשֵׁ֥ב אֱלֹהִ֖ים עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ הִ֠נֵּה הַשָּׁמַ֜יִם וּשְׁמֵ֚י הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ לֹ֣א יְכַלְכְּל֔וּךָ אַ֕ף כִּֽי־הַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנִֽיתִי:
28 And You shall turn toward Your servant’s prayer and to his supplication, O Lord my God: to hearken to the song and to the prayer that Your servant is praying before You today.		כחוּפָנִ֜יתָ אֶל־תְּפִלַּ֧ת עַבְדְּךָ֛ וְאֶל־תְּחִנָּת֖וֹ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑י לִשְׁמֹ֚עַ אֶל־הָֽרִנָּה֙ וְאֶל־הַתְּפִלָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר עַבְדְּךָ֛ מִתְפַּלֵּ֥ל לְפָנֶ֖יךָ הַיּֽוֹם:
29That Your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, toward the place which You said, ‘My Name will be there;’ to listen to the prayer that Your servant will pray toward this place.		כטלִהְיוֹת֩ עֵינֶ֨ךָ פְתֻחֹ֜ת אֶל־הַבַּ֚יִת הַזֶּה֙ לַ֣יְלָה וָי֔וֹם אֶל־הַ֨מָּק֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמַ֔רְתָּ יִהְיֶ֥ה שְׁמִ֖י שָׁ֑ם לִשְׁמֹ֙עַ֙ אֶל־הַתְּפִלָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִתְפַּלֵּ֣ל עַבְדְּךָ֔ אֶל־הַמָּק֖וֹם הַזֶּֽה:
30 And You shall listen to the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel that they will pray toward this place; and You shall hear in heaven, Your abode, and You shall hear and forgive.		לוְשָׁ֨מַעְתָּ֜ אֶל־תְּחִנַּ֚ת עַבְדְּךָ֙ וְעַמְּךָ֣ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר יִֽתְפַּלְל֖וּ אֶל־הַמָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה וְ֠אַתָּה תִּשְׁמַ֞ע אֶל־מְק֚וֹם שִׁבְתְּךָ֙ אֶל־הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְשָׁמַעְתָּ֖ וְסָלָֽחְתָּ:
31 If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath be exacted of him to cause him to swear, and he come and swear before Your altar in this house.		לאאֵת֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יֶחֱטָ֥א אִישׁ֙ לְרֵעֵ֔הוּ וְנָֽשָׁא־ב֥וֹ אָלָ֖ה לְהַֽאֲלֹת֑וֹ וּבָ֗א אָלָ֛ה לִפְנֵ֥י מִֽזְבַּחֲךָ֖ בַּבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּֽה:
32 And You shall hear in heaven, and do, and judge Your servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.		לבוְאַתָּ֣ה | תִּשְׁמַ֣ע הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם וְעָשִֹ֙יתָ֙ וְשָׁפַטְתָּ֣ אֶת־עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ לְהַרְשִׁ֣יעַ רָשָׁ֔ע לָתֵ֥ת דַּרְכּ֖וֹ בְּרֹאשׁ֑וֹ וּלְהַצְדִּ֣יק צַדִּ֔יק לָ֥תֶת ל֖וֹ כְּצִדְקָתֽוֹ:
33 When Your people Israel are struck down before the enemy, because they sin against You, and shall turn again to You, and praise Your name, and pray and make supplication to You in this house.		לגבְּֽהִנָּגֵ֞ף עַמְּךָ֧ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל לִפְנֵ֥י אוֹיֵ֖ב אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֶחֶטְאוּ־לָ֑ךְ וְשָׁ֚בוּ אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ וְהוֹד֣וּ אֶת־שְׁמֶ֔ךָ וְהִֽתְפַּֽלְל֧וּ וְהִֽתְחַנְּנ֛וּ אֵלֶ֖יךָ בַּבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּֽה:
34And You shall hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You gave to their fathers.		לדוְאַתָּה֙ תִּשְׁמַ֣ע הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְסָ֣לַחְתָּ֔ לְחַטַּ֖את עַמְּךָ֣ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַהֲשֵֽׁבֹתָם֙ אֶל־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תָּ לַאֲבוֹתָֽם:
35 When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against You; and they shall pray toward this place and praise Your name, and repent of their sin, so that You may answer them.		להבְּהֵעָצֵ֥ר שָׁמַ֛יִם וְלֹא־יִהְיֶ֥ה מָטָ֖ר כִּ֣י יֶחֶטְאוּ־לָ֑ךְ וְהִֽתְפַּֽלְל֞וּ אֶל־הַמָּק֚וֹם הַזֶּה֙ וְהוֹד֣וּ אֶת־שְׁמֶ֔ךָ וּמֵחַטָּאתָ֥ם יְשׁוּב֖וּן כִּ֥י תַעֲנֵֽם:
36 And You shall hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, and of Your people Israel, when You teach them the good way wherein they should walk; and give rain upon Your land, which You have given to Your people for an inheritance.		לווְאַתָּ֣ה | תִּשְׁמַ֣ע הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם וְסָ֨לַחְתָּ֜ לְחַטַּ֚את עֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙ וְעַמְּךָ֣ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּ֥י תוֹרֵ֛ם אֶת־הַדֶּ֥רֶךְ הַטּוֹבָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵֽלְכוּ־בָ֑הּ וְנָתַתָּ֚ה מָטָר֙ עַל־אַרְצְךָ֔ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥תָּה לְעַמְּךָ֖ לְנַחֲלָֽה:
37 If there be famine in the land, if there be pestilence, blasting, yellowing, locust, (or) if there be destroying locusts; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities, whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness (there be).		לזרָעָ֞ב כִּֽי־יִהְיֶ֣ה בָאָ֗רֶץ דֶּ֣בֶר כִּֽי־יִ֠הְיֶה שִׁדָּפ֨וֹן יֵרָק֜וֹן אַרְבֶּ֚ה חָסִיל֙ כִּ֣י יִהְיֶ֔ה כִּ֧י יָֽצַר־ל֛וֹ אֹיְב֖וֹ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ שְׁעָרָ֑יו כָּל־נֶ֖גַע כָּֽל־מַחֲלָֽה:
38 Any prayer, any supplication, which will be (made) by any man, (or) by all Your people Israel, who shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house.		לחכָּל־תְּפִלָּ֣ה כָל־תְּחִנָּ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֚ר תִּֽהְיֶה֙ לְכָל־הָ֣אָדָ֔ם לְכֹ֖ל עַמְּךָ֣ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵדְע֗וּן אִישׁ נֶ֣גַע לְבָב֔וֹ וּפָרַ֥שׂ כַּפָּ֖יו אֶל־הַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּֽה:
39 And You shall hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart You know, for You, alone, know the hearts of all the children of men.		לטוְ֠אַתָּה תִּשְׁמַ֨ע הַשָּׁמַ֜יִם מְכ֚וֹן שִׁבְתֶּ֙ךָ֙ וְסָלַחְתָּ֣ וְעָשִֹ֔יתָ וְנָתַתָּ֚ לָאִישׁ֙ כְּכָל־דְּרָכָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר תֵּדַ֖ע אֶת־לְבָב֑וֹ כִּֽי־אַתָּ֚ה יָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ לְבַדְּךָ֔ אֶת־לְבַ֖ב כָּל־בְּנֵ֥י הָאָדָֽם:
40 That they may fear You all the days that they live in the land which You gave to our fathers.		מלְמַ֙עַן֙ יִֽרָא֔וּךָ כָּל־הַ֨יָּמִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־הֵ֥ם חַיִּ֖ים עַל־פְּנֵ֣י הָאֲדָמָ֑ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תָּה לַאֲבֹתֵֽינוּ:
41 And also to the stranger, who (is) not of Your people Israel, but will come from a far country for the sake of Your Name.		מאוְגַם֙ אֶל־הַנָּכְרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹא־מֵעַמְּךָ֥ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל ה֑וּא וּבָ֛א מֵאֶ֥רֶץ רְחוֹקָ֖ה לְמַ֥עַן שְׁמֶֽךָ:
42 For they shall hear of Your great Name, and of Your mighty hand, and of Your outstretched arm, and he will come and pray toward this house.		מבכִּ֚י יִשְׁמְעוּן֙ אֶת־שִׁמְךָ֣ הַגָּד֔וֹל וְאֶת־יָֽדְךָ֙ הַֽחֲזָקָ֔ה וּֽזְרֹעֲךָ֖ הַנְּטוּיָ֑ה וּבָ֥א וְהִתְפַּלֵּ֖ל אֶל־הַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּֽה:
43 You shall hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls You for, that all peoples of the earth may know Your Name, to fear You, as (do) Your people Israel, and that they may know that Your Name is called upon this house that I have built.		מגאַתָּ֞ה תִּשְׁמַ֚ע הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ מְכ֣וֹן שִׁבְתֶּ֔ךָ וְעָשִֹ֕יתָ כְּכֹ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־יִקְרָ֥א אֵלֶ֖יךָ הַנָּכְרִ֑י לְמַ֣עַן יֵדְעוּן֩ כָּל־עַמֵּ֨י הָאָ֜רֶץ אֶת־שְׁמֶ֗ךָ לְיִרְאָ֚ה אֹֽתְךָ֙ כְּעַמְּךָ֣ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְלָדַ֕עַת כִּי־שִׁמְךָ֣ נִקְרָ֔א עַל־הַבַּ֥יִת הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנִֽיתִי:
44 If Your people go out to battle against their enemy, by what way You send them, and pray to the Lord toward the city that You have chosen, and (toward) the house that I have built for Your name.		מדכִּי־יֵצֵ֨א עַמְּךָ֚ לַמִּלְחָמָה֙ עַל־אֹ֣יְב֔וֹ בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּשְׁלָחֵ֑ם וְהִתְפַּֽלְל֣וּ אֶל־יְהֹוָ֗ה דֶּ֚רֶךְ הָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחַ֣רְתָּ בָּ֔הּ וְהַבַּ֖יִת אֲשֶׁר־בָּנִ֥תִי לִשְׁמֶֽךָ:
45 And you shall hear in heaven their prayer and supplication, and maintain their cause.		מהוְשָׁמַעְתָּ֙ הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם אֶת־תְּפִלָּתָ֖ם וְאֶת־תְּחִנָּתָ֑ם וְעָשִֹ֖יתָ מִשְׁפָּטָֽם:
46 If they sin against You, for (there is) no man who does not sin, and You will be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, and their captors will carry them away captive to the land of the enemy, far or near.		מוכִּ֣י יֶֽחֶטְאוּ־לָ֗ךְ כִּ֣י אֵ֚ין אָדָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־יֶחֱטָ֔א וְאָנַפְתָּ֣ בָ֔ם וּנְתַתָּ֖ם לִפְנֵ֣י אוֹיֵ֑ב וְשָׁב֚וּם שֹֽׁבֵיהֶם֙ אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ הָאוֹיֵ֔ב רְחוֹקָ֖ה א֥וֹ קְרוֹבָֽה:
47 And they shall bethink themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of their captors, saying, ‘We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness.’		מזוְהֵשִׁ֙יבוּ֙ אֶל־לִבָּ֔ם בָּאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁבּוּ־שָׁ֑ם וְשָׁ֣בוּ | וְהִֽתְחַנְּנ֣וּ אֵלֶ֗יךָ בְּאֶ֚רֶץ שֹֽׁבֵיהֶם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר חָטָ֥אנוּ וְהֶעֱוִ֖ינוּ רָשָֽׁעְנוּ:
48 And they shall return to You with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, who led them away captive, and pray to You toward their land, which You gave to their fathers, the city that You have chosen, and the house which I have built for Your Name.		מחוְשָׁ֣בוּ אֵלֶ֗יךָ בְּכָל־לְבָבָם֙ וּבְכָל־נַפְשָׁ֔ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ אֹיְבֵיהֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁר־שָׁב֣וּ אֹתָ֑ם וְהִֽתְפַּֽלְל֣וּ אֵלֶ֗יךָ דֶּ֚רֶךְ אַרְצָם֙ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֣תָּה לַאֲבוֹתָ֔ם הָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחַ֔רְתָּ וְהַבַּ֖יִת אֲשֶׁר־בָּנִ֥יתִי (כתיב בָּנִ֥יתִ) לִשְׁמֶֽךָ:
49 And you shall hear their prayer and their supplication in heaven, Your dwelling place, and maintain their cause.		מטוְשָׁמַעְתָּ֚ הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ מְכ֣וֹן שִׁבְתְּךָ֔ אֶת־תְּפִלָּתָ֖ם וְאֶת־תְּחִנָּתָ֑ם וְעָשִֹ֖יתָ מִשְׁפָּטָֽם:
50 And forgive Your people what they have sinned against You, and all their transgressions that they have transgressed against You, and give mercy before their captors, that they may have mercy on them.		נוְסָלַחְתָּ֚ לְעַמְּךָ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָֽטְאוּ־לָ֔ךְ וּלְכָל־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר פָּשְׁעוּ־בָ֑ךְ וּנְתַתָּ֧ם לְרַחֲמִ֛ים לִפְנֵ֥י שֹׁבֵיהֶ֖ם וְרִֽחֲמֽוּם:
51 For they are Your people, and Your inheritance, whom You have taken out of Egypt, from within the smelting furnace of iron.		נאכִּֽי־עַמְּךָ֥ וְנַחֲלָתְךָ֖ הֵ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֚ר הוֹצֵ֙אתָ֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם מִתּ֖וֹךְ כּ֥וּר הַבַּרְזֶֽל:
52That Your eyes may be open to the supplication of Your servant, and to the supplication of your people Israel, to hearken to them whenever they call to You.		נבלִהְי֨וֹת עֵינֶ֚יךָ פְתֻחֹת֙ אֶל־תְּחִנַּ֣ת עַבְדְּךָ֔ וְאֶל־תְּחִנַּ֖ת עַמְּךָ֣ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לִשְׁמֹ֣עַ אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם בְּכֹ֖ל קָרְאָ֥ם אֵלֶֽיךָ:
53 For You set them apart from among all the peoples of the earth, Your inheritance, as You spoke through Moses Your servant, when You brought our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord, God.”		נגכִּֽי־אַתָּ֞ה הִבְדַּלְתָּ֚ם לְךָ֙ לְֽנַחֲלָ֔ה מִכֹּ֖ל עַמֵּ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבַּ֜רְתָּ בְּיַ֣ד | משֶׁ֣ה עַבְדֶּ֗ךָ בְּהוֹצִיאֲךָ֧ אֶת־אֲבֹתֵ֛ינוּ מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם אֲדֹנָ֥י יֱהֹוִֽה:
54 And it was, as Solomon finished praying all this prayer and supplication to the Lord, that he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread out toward heaven.		נדוַיְהִ֣י | כְּכַלּ֣וֹת שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה לְהִתְפַּלֵּל֙ אֶל־יְהֹוָ֔ה אֵ֛ת כָּל־הַתְּפִלָּ֥ה וְהַתְּחִנָּ֖ה הַזֹּ֑את קָ֞ם מִלִּפְנֵ֨י מִזְבַּ֚ח יְהֹוָה֙ מִכְּרֹ֣עַ עַל־בִּרְכָּ֔יו וְכַפָּ֖יו פְּרֻשֹ֥וֹת הַשָּׁמָֽיִם:
55 And he stood, and blessed the entire congregation of Israel (with) a loud voice, saying,		נהוַֽיַּעֲמֹ֕ד וַיְבָ֕רֶךְ אֵ֖ת כָּל־קְהַ֣ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל ק֥וֹל גָּד֖וֹל לֵאמֹֽר:
56 “Blessed (be) the Lord, Who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He spoke; there has not failed one word of all his good word, that He spoke through Moses His servant.		נובָּר֣וּךְ יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֚ן מְנוּחָה֙ לְעַמּ֣וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כְּכֹ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֵּ֑ר לֹֽא־נָפַ֞ל דָּבָ֣ר אֶחָ֗ד מִכֹּל֙ דְּבָר֣וֹ הַטּ֔וֹב אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֔ר בְּיַ֖ד משֶׁ֥ה עַבְדּֽוֹ:
57 May the Lord our God be with us, as He was with our forefathers; let Him not leave us, nor forsake us.		נזיְהִ֨י יְהֹוָ֚ה אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙ עִמָּ֔נוּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה עִם־אֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ אַל־יַעַזְבֵ֖נוּ וְאַֽל־יִטְּשֵֽׁנוּ:
58 That He may incline our hearts to Him, to go in all His ways, and to keep His commandments, and His statutes, and His judgments, which He commanded our forefathers.		נחלְהַטּ֥וֹת לְבָבֵ֖נוּ אֵלָ֑יו לָלֶ֣כֶת בְּכָל־דְּרָכָ֗יו וְלִשְׁמֹ֨ר מִצְו‍ֹתָ֚יו וְחֻקָּיו֙ וּמִשְׁפָּטָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּ֖ה אֶת־אֲבֹתֵֽינוּ:
59 And may these words of mine, with which I have made supplication before the Lord, be close to the Lord our God, day and night, that He sustain the cause of His servant and the cause of His people Israel, each day’s need granted on its day.		נטוְיִֽהְי֨וּ דְבָרַ֜י אֵ֗לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֚ר הִתְחַנַּ֙נְתִּי֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה קְרֹבִ֛ים אֶל־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ יוֹמָ֣ם וָלָ֑יְלָה לַעֲשֹ֣וֹת | מִשְׁפַּ֣ט עַבְדּ֗וֹ וּמִשְׁפַּ֛ט עַמּ֥וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל דְּבַר־י֥וֹם בְּיוֹמֽוֹ:
60 So that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God: there is none else.		סלְמַ֗עַן דַּעַת כָּל־עַמֵּ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה ה֣וּא הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֖ין עֽוֹד:
61 Let your heart, [therefore], be whole with the Lord our God, to follow His statutes and to keep His precepts as of this day.		סאוְהָיָ֚ה לְבַבְכֶם֙ שָׁלֵ֔ם עִ֖ם יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ לָלֶ֧כֶת בְּחֻקָּ֛יו וְלִשְׁמֹ֥ר מִצְו‍ֹתָ֖יו כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה:
62 And the King and all Israel with him slaughtered sacrifices before the Lord.		סבוְֽהַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עִמּ֑וֹ זֹבְחִ֥ים זֶ֖בַח לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה:
63 And Solomon slaughtered the peace- offerings that he slaughtered to the Lord, twenty-two thousand oxen, and one hundred and twenty thousand sheep. [With this] the King and all the children of Israel inaugurated the Temple of the Lord.		סגוַיִּזְבַּ֣ח שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה אֵ֣ת זֶ֣בַח הַשְּׁלָמִים֘ אֲשֶׁ֣ר זָבַ֣ח לַיהֹוָה֒ בָּקָ֗ר עֶשְׂרִ֚ים וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙ אֶ֔לֶף וְצֹ֕אן מֵאָ֥ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים אָֽלֶף וַֽיַּחְנְכוּ֙ אֶת־בֵּ֣ית יְהֹוָ֔ה הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ וְכָל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל:
64 On that day the King consecrated the middle of the court that was before the Temple of the Lord, for there he offered the burnt-offerings (and) the meal-offerings and the fat of the peace-offerings, for the copper altar that was before the Lord was too small to contain the burnt-offerings (and) the meal- offerings and the fat of the peace-offerings.		סדבַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא קִדַּ֨שׁ הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶת־תּ֣וֹךְ הֶחָצֵ֗ר אֲשֶׁר֙ לִפְנֵ֣י בֵית־יְהֹוָ֔ה כִּי־עָ֣שָׂה שָׁ֗ם אֶת־הָֽעֹלָה֙ וְאֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֔ה וְאֵ֖ת חֶלְבֵ֣י הַשְּׁלָמִ֑ים כִּֽי־מִזְבַּ֚ח הַנְּח֙שֶׁת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה קָטֹ֗ן מֵֽהָכִיל֙ אֶת־הָעֹלָ֣ה וְאֶת־הַמִּנְחָ֔ה וְאֵ֖ת חֶלְבֵ֥י הַשְּׁלָמִֽים:
65 Now Solomon observed the Feast at that time and all Israel with him, a great assemblage from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before the Lord our God, seven days and seven days, [totalling] fourteen days.		סהוַיַּ֣עַשׂ שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בָֽעֵת־הַהִ֣יא | אֶת־הֶחָ֡ג וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל עִמּוֹ֩ קָהָ֨ל גָּד֜וֹל מִלְּב֥וֹא חֲמָ֣ת | עַד־נַ֣חַל מִצְרַ֗יִם לִפְנֵי֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים וְשִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים אַרְבָּעָ֥ה עָשָֹ֖ר יֽוֹם:
66 On the eighth day he dismissed the people, and they blessed the King and went to their homes, rejoicing and delighted of heart for all the goodness that the Lord had wrought for David His servant and for Israel His people.		סובַּיּ֚וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי֙ שִׁלַּ֣ח אֶת־הָעָ֔ם וַֽיְבָרֲכ֖וּ אֶת־הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיֵּלְכ֣וּ לְאָהֳלֵיהֶ֗ם שְׂמֵחִים֙ וְט֣וֹבֵי לֵ֔ב עַ֣ל כָּל־הַטּוֹבָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשָֹ֚ה יְהֹוָה֙ לְדָוִ֣ד עַבְדּ֔וֹ וּלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עַמּֽוֹ:

I Reyes 8

(1) Entonces convocó Salomon a los ancianos de Israel y a todos los jefes de las tribus, los príncipes de las casas paternas de los hijos de Israel, al rey Salomón en Jerusalem para hacer subir el Arca del pacto del Eterno desde la ciudad de David, la cual es Sión (Tzión).

(2) Y todos los hombres de Israel se reunieron ante el rey Salomón en la fiesta, en el mes de Etaním, que es el mes séptimo.

(3) Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel y los sacerdotes tomaron el Arca.

(4) Trajeron el Arca del Eterno, al Tabernáculo de Reunión y todos los utensilios sagrados que había dentro del Tabernáculo de Reunión y todos los utencilios sagrados que había dentro del Tabernáculo. Todo eso fue traído por los sacerdotes y los levitas.

(5) Y el rey Salomón y toda la congregación de Israel que estaba reunida con él ante el Arca sacrificando ovejas y bueyes que no podían ser contados por su cantidad.

(6) Y los sacerdotes trajeron el Arca del pacto del Eterno y lo colocaron en su lugar, en el Santuario de la Casa, en el lugar más sagrado, bajo las alas de los querubines.

(7) Por cuanto los querubines extendían sus alas sobre el lugar del Arca y cubrían el Arca y sus varas por arriba.

(8) Y las varas eran tan largas que los extremos de las varas podían verse desde el Lugar Santo delante del Santuario pero no podían verse desde afuera, y así están hasta el día de hoy.

(9) No había nada en el Arca salvo las dos tablas de piedra que Moisés (Moshe) puso en Horeb(Jórev), cuando el Eterno hizo un pacto con los hijos de Israel cuando salieron de la tierra de Egipto.

(10) Y aconteció, cuando los sacerdotes salieron del Lugar Santo, que la nube llenó la casa del Eterno,

(11) de modo que los sacerdotes no podían ministrar allí a causa de la nube porque la gloria del Eterno llenaba la casa del Eterno.

(12)Dijo entonces Salomon: “El Eterno ha dicho que habitará en las densas tinieblas.

(13) Yo ciertamente Te he construido una Casa por habitación, un lugar para que Tú mores para siempre”

(14) Y el rey dio la vuelta y bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel que estaba de pie.

(15) Agregó: “Bendito sea el Eterno, el Dios de Israel que habló  con Su boca a David mi padre y lo ha cumplido son Su mano diciendo:

(16) “Desde el día en que saqué a Mi pueblo Israel de Egipto, no elegí ninguna ciudad de todas las tribus de Israel para edificar una Casa para que Mi nombre pudiera estar allí sino que elegí a David para que estuviera sobre Mi pueblo Israel”.

(17)Y estuvo en el corazón de David mi padre el construir una Casa para el Nombre del Eterno, el Dios de Israel.

(18) pero el Eterno le dijo a David mi padre: “Desde que estuvo en tu corazón el construir una Casa para mi Nombre, bien has hecho en tener tal propósito en tu corazón,

(19) pero tú no has de edificar la Casa sino tu hijo que saldrá de tus lomos construirá la Casa para Mi Nombre.

(20) Y el Eterno ha cumplido la palabra que dio, porque me he levantado en la habitación de David mi padre y me ha sentado en el trono de Israel como lo prometió el Eterno y he edificado la Casa para el Nombre del Eterno, el Dios de Israel.

(21) Allí hice un lugar para el Arca donde está el Pacto del Eterno que Él hizo con nuestros padres cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto”.

(22)Y Salomón se puso delante del altar del Eterno en presencia de toda la congregación de Israel y extendió sus manos hacia el cielo,

(23) y dijo: “Oh Eterno, Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como Tú, ni arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, que guardas el Pacto y muestras misericordia con Tus siervos que andan ante Ti con todo su corazón,

(24) que has cumplido con Tu siervo David, como es en el día de hoy.

(25) Ahora pues, oh Eterno, Dios de Israel, cumple con Tu siervo David mi padre lo que Tú le prometiste diciendo: “No te faltará un hombre ante Mi vista para sentarse en el trono sólo si tus hijos se empeñaran en andar en Mis caminos como tú anduviste ante Mí”,

(26) Ahora pues oh Dios de Israel, te ruego que se verifique Tu palabra, la que diste a Tu siervo David mi padre.

(27) Pero ¿acaso Dios ciertamente habitará en la tierra? He aquí que el cielo y el cielo de los cielos no puede contenerte. ¡Cuánto menos es esta Casa que he construido!

(28) Te ruego empero que consideres las plegarias de Tu siervo y su súplica, oh Eterno Dios mío y escuches el clamor que Tu siervo Te hace llegar delante de Tu rostro hoy.

(29) Te ruego que Tus ojos estén abiertos hacia esta casa noche y día, o sea hacia el lugar del cual has dicho: “Mi Nombre estará allí para escuchar la plegaría que Tu siervo eleve hacia el sitio.

(30) Y escucha la súplica de Tu siervo y de Tu pueblo Israel cuando oren hacia este lugar. Sí escúchala en el cielo donde moras y cuando Tú escuches, perdona.

(31) Si un hombre peca contra su prójimo y se le impone juramento haciendo jurar de modo que venga y jure ante Tu altar en esta casa,

(32) entonces escúchale Tú desde el cielo y haz justicia a Tus siervos, condenando al malvado para traer su camino sobre su propia cabeza y justificando al recto para retribuirle conforme a su rectitud.

(33) Cuando Tu pueblo Israel sea abatido ante el enemigo por haber pecado contra Ti, confesarán Tu nombre, orarán y suplicarán a Ti en esta Casa,

(34) entonces escucha desde el cielo y perdona el pecado de Tu pueblo Israel y condúceles de regreso a la tierra que diste a sus padres.

(35) Cuando el cielo esté cerrado y no haya lluvia por haber pecado contra Ti, cuando oren hacia este lugar, confiesen Tu Nombre y vuelven de su pecado, cuando Tú les aflijas,

(36) oye desde el cielo y perdona el pecado de Tus siervos y de Tu pueblo Israel, cuando les enseñes el buen camino por el que deben andar; envía lluvia a Tu tierra, la que diste a Tu pueblo por heredad.

(37) Si haya en la tierra, pestilencia, marchitamiento o añublo, langostas u oruga, o cuando los sitien sus enemigos en las ciudades de su tierra, cualquier plaga, enfermedad que haya,

(38) toda oración o súplica que sea hecha por cualquier hombre de todo Tu pueblo Israel, que llegue a conocer  cada cual lamplaga de su mismo corazón y extiende sus manos hacia esta Casa,

(39) escucha Tú desde el cielo Tu habitación y perdona; aplica lo que merece cada hombre de acuerdo con todos sus caminos, cuyo corazón Tú conoces- por cuanto Tú, solamente Tú, conces los corazones de todos los hijos de hombre,

(40) para que Te teman a ti todos los días que viven en la tierra que diste a nuestros padres.

(41) Y en cuanto al extranjero que no es de Tu pueblo Israel, cuando venga de un país lejano por razón de Tu Nombre,

(42) por cuanto ellos sabrán de Tu Nombre, de Tu poderosa mano y de Tu brazo extendido, y cuando venga y ore hacia esta Casa,

(43) escucha Tú en el cielo Tu morada y haz conforme a todo lo que el extranjero te pida para que Te teman como lo hace Tu pueblo Israel y para que sepan que Tu Nombre está consagrando esta Casa que he construido.

(44) Si Tu pueblo sale a la batalla contra su enemigo, por cualquier medio que Tú les envíes, y cuando oren al Eterno hacia la ciudad que Tú has elegido y hacia la Casa que he edificado a Tu Nombre,

(45) escucha desde el cielo su oración y su suplica, y apoya su causa.

(46) Si pecan  contra Ti, por cuanto no hay hombre que no peque, y te encolerizas con ellos y los entregas al enemigo de modo que sean llevados cautivos a la tierra del enemigo, ya sea lejos o cerca;

(47) si, empero, recapacitan en la tierra adonde han sido llevados cautivos y vuelven: Si te suplican en la tierra de quienes los llevaron cautivos, diciendo: “hemos pecado y hemos obrado inicuamente, hemos cometido maldad”;

(48) si vuelven a Ti con todo su corazón y con toda su alma en la tierra de los enemigos que los llevaron; si oran ante Ti hacia su tierra que diste a sus padres, la ciudad que Tu has elegido y la Casa que he cosntruido a Tu Nombre;

(49) entonces escucha Tú su oración y su súplica desde el cielo Tu morada y apoya su causa;

(50) perdona a Tu pueblo que ha pecado contra Ti todas sus transgresiones donde las hayan cometido, compadécete de ellos ante quienes los llevaron cautivos para que sus captores se compadescan de ellos.

(51) Por cuanto son Tu pueblo y Tu heredad, los sacaste de Egipto de en medio del horno de hierro.

(52) Estén pues Tus ojos abiertos para la suplica de Tu siervo y para la suplica de Tu pueblo Israel para que  los escuchen cuando clamen a Ti.

(53) Por caunto los separastes de entre todos los pueblos de la tierra para que fueran Tu herencia, como dijiste por medio de Moisés Tu siervo cuando sacaste a nuestros padres de Egipto, “oh Eterno Dios”

(54) Y fue que cuando Salomón hubo terminado de pronunciar toda esta plegaria y rogativa al Eterno, se levantó de delante el altar del Eterno, mientras estaba arrodillado y con sus manos extendidas al cielo.

(55) y se paró, bendijo a toda la congregación de Israel en voz alta, diciendo: 

(56) “Bendito sea el Eterno que ha dado descanso a Su pueblo Israel conforme a todo lo que prometió. No ha dejado de cumplir una sola palabra de toda su buena promesa que formuló por medio de Moisés Su siervo.

(57) Sea el Eterno nuestro Dios con nosotros, como El fue con nuestros padres, que no nos abandone ni nos deje.

(58) Incline nuestros corazones a Él para que andemos en todos Sus caminos y para que guardemos Sus mandamientos, Sus estatutos y Sus leyes que dicto nuestros padres.

(59) Y que mis palabras, por las que hice rogativa ante el Eterno estén cerca del Eterno nuestro Dios, día y noche para sostener la causa de Su siervo y la de Su pueblo Israel como lo requiere cada día,

(60) y paras que todos los pueblos de la tierra sepan que sólo el Eterno es Dios. No hay ningún otro.

(61) Que nuestro corazón pues esté por entero con el Eterno nuestro Dios para andar en Sus estatutos  y guardar sus mandamientos como hasta hoy.

(62) Y el rey, así como todo Israel con él ofrecieron sacrificios ante el Eterno.

(63) Y Salomón brindó veintidós mil bueyes y ciento veinte mil ovejas para la ofrenda pacífica que sacrificó al Eterno. De esta manera, el rey y todos los hijos de Israel consagran la Casa del Eterno.

(64) El mismo día, el rey santificó el centro del atrio que estaba delante de la Casa del Eterno. Allí ofreció el holocausto, la ofrenda vegetal y los sebos de los sacrificios pacíficos porque el altar de bronce que estaba delante del Eterno era demasiado pequeño para recibir el holocausto, la ofrenda vegetal y los sebos de los sacrificios pacíficos.

(65) Así Salomon celebró la fiesta en ese tiempo, así como todo Israel, una gran congregación, desde la entrada de Jamat hasta el arroyo de Egipto fueron ante el Eterno, siete días y todavía siete días, o sea catorce días.

(66) Al octavo día, envió de regreso a la gente, los cuales bendijeron al rey y fueron a sus tiendas, alegres y contentos de corazón por todo lo bueno que el Eterno había otorgado a David Su siervo y a Israel Su Pueblo.

Melachim I – I Kings – Chapter 8(32) (36)

32 But he will have one tribe, for My servant David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen of all the tribes of Israel.

לבוְהַשֵּׁ֥בֶט הָאֶחָ֖ד יִֽהְיֶה־לּ֑וֹ לְמַ֣עַן | עַבְדִּ֣י דָוִ֗ד וּלְמַ֙עַן֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔םִ הָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחַ֣רְתִּי בָ֔הּ מִכֹּ֖ל שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל:

I Reyes 11( 32) pero el tendrá una tribu, por consideración a Mi siervo David, y a Jerusalem, la ciudad que he elegido entre todas las tribus de Israel,

36 And his son I shall give one tribe so that David My servant may have a kingdom before Me in Jerusalem, the city which I chose for Myself to place My name there.

לווְלִבְנ֖וֹ אֶתֵּ֣ן שֵֽׁבֶט־אֶחָ֑ד לְמַ֣עַן הֱיֽוֹת־נִ֣יר לְדָֽוִיד־עַ֠בְדִּי כָּֽל־הַיָּמִ֚ים | לְפָנַי֙ בִּיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔םִ הָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחַ֣רְתִּי לִ֔י לָשֹ֥וּם שְׁמִ֖י שָֽׁם:

I Reyes 11( 36) A su hijo le daré una tribu, para que David Mi siervo tenga una lampará siempre ante Mí en Jerusalem, la ciudad que elegí para poner mi nombre allí.

Vayikra – Leviticus – Chapter 26

7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you;		זוּרְדַפְתֶּ֖ם אֶת־אֹֽיְבֵיכֶ֑ם וְנָֽפְל֥וּ לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם לֶחָֽרֶב:
8 Five of you will pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you will pursue ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.		חוְרָֽדְפ֨וּ מִכֶּ֤ם חֲמִשָּׁה֙ מֵאָ֔ה וּמֵאָ֥ה מִכֶּ֖ם רְבָבָ֣ה יִרְדֹּ֑פוּ וְנָֽפְל֧וּ אֹֽיְבֵיכֶ֛ם לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם לֶחָֽרֶב:

(7) Perseguiréis a vuestros enemigos que caerán ante vosotros por la espada.
